Rutgers Wrestling Falls to Bloomsburg
Tanis and Beverly Victorious
(Piscataway, NJ) – The Rutgers University Wrestling team (2-3) fell to
Bloomsburg University (7-2-1) 28-9 tonight at the College Avenue Gymnasium.
Rutgers junior 184-pounder Tom Tanis (Oak Ridge, NJ) and freshman 133-pounder
Jeff Beverly (Point Pleasant, NJ) recorded the only victories for the Scarlet
Knights.
Tanis, ranked fourth in the EIWA, pinned Chris Froelich in 4:44. Tanis
improves his record to 8-5 on the season, 2-2 in dual meets. Beverly, ranked
fifth in the EIWA, won in overtime, 8-6, over Justin Haupt and raises his record to 21-11, 4-1 in dual meets.
Senior captain Jon Forster (Minotola, NJ), currently ranked 15th in the nation and second in the EIWA at 149-pounds, was defeated by George Carter,
who is currently 10th in the nation. This is Forster’s first loss in dual
meet action, lowering his record to 4-1 and 28-9 overall.
Rutgers will return to action tomorrow, February 12, when they host Franklin
and Marshall, Syracuse and Coppin State at the College Avenue Gymnasium beginning at 1:00 pm.
