Scarlet Knight Wrestling Slays Drexel Dragons
Extends Winning Streak to Six

(New Brunswick, NJ) - The Rutgers University Wrestling team (8-3) defeated  Drexel (9-11) 27-12 tonight at the College Avenue Gymnasium. On Senior and  Parent's Appreciation Night, the Scarlet Knights dominated the Dragons,  winning all but three matches. With the victory, Rutgers extends its winning  streak to six meets dating back to February 12 versus Franklin & Marshall,  Coppin State, and Syracuse.
 
Junior Shane Engel-Folks (Washington, NJ) opened the meet for the Scarlet  Knights at 157-pound with a decisive 8-2 victory over Ray Stofko. Sophomore  Chris Madia (Morris Plains, NJ) then dropped a 5-2 decision to Dave Dietrich  tying the team score at three.

 Rutgers regained the advantage when junior Justion Haskins (Cliffwood Beach,  NJ) raised his overall record to 29-12 (7-4 in dual meets) as he bested Kyle  Talley 13-7. Junior Tom Tanis (Oak Ridge, NJ), currently ranked fifth in the  EIWA, followed Haskins by pinning Drexel's Pat Shufelt at 4:40, giving the  Scarlet Knights the 12-3 lead in team score. Tanis extends his personal  winning streak to eight matches dating back to January 29 versus Mike Bigrigg  of Navy and is currently 13-6 on the season (7-3 in dual meets). 

Wrestling in his final meet in the College Avenue Gymnasium, 197-pound senior  Paul Castellini (Dorothy, NJ) held off Pat Miller 5-4. Sophomore heavyweight,  Frank Sabatino (Hazlet, NJ), wrestling at a severe height and weight  disadvantage versus Mike Carroll, followed dropping a 8-3 decision, dropping  the Rutgers lead to 15-6.
 
Rutgers bounced back as freshman 125-pounder Ryan Brennan (Randolph, NJ),  ranked fourth in the EIWA, pinned Dan DiGirolamo at 2:51 to extend the  Scarlet Knight overall lead to 21-6. Brennan is now 20-14 on the season, 5-2  in dual meets. Drexel followed with a pin at 133-pounds as Justin Gottwald 
pinned Rutgers freshman Jeff Beverly (Pt. Pleasant, NJ) in 4:30, cutting the  Rutgers advantage to 21-12.
 
Rutgers closed out the meet winning the final two matches. At 141-pounds,  freshman Greg Austin (Seaville, NJ) defeated Brent Yates 8-2, while junior  149-pounder Jon Forster (Minotola, NJ) bested Jason Staso 7-3, finishing off  the 27-12 victory for the Scarlet Knights. Forster is currently ranked second in the EIWA and improves his overall mark to 33-10 (8-2 in dual meets). 

The Scarlet Knights return to action on Friday, March 4 in the EIWA  Tournament at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
