Eagles' senior standout Schroeder records pin in final home match

WASHINGTON, D.C. : Old Dominion won five of eight wrestled matches and defeated American by the score of 33-13 in a Colonial Athletic Association wrestling match today at AU's Bender Arena.

American (1-7, 0-3 CAA) faced an early 0-9 deficit as ODU's Jeff Rusak defeated Denis Alampiev (Jr., Waynesboro, PA/ Waynesboro) in a close 3-2 decision at 165 to open the match and George Sable won by default at 174. Josh Schroeder (Sr., Aurora. OH/ Aurora), wrestling in his final bout at AU's Bender Arena, got the Eagles on the board at 184 as he pinned ODU's Chris Harrington at 1:08. Ryan Pallinger (Jr.-T, Avon Lake, OH/ Lake (Miami (OH)) gave AU the lead at 10-9 after a major decision at 197. 

The Monarchs, however, jumped to a 21-10 advantage after a forfeit at heavyweight and decisions from Chip Reyes at 125 and Joel Jimenez at 133. After a Pat Diaz (Fr., Rochester, MI/ Adams) decision at 141, ODU put the match away with pins by Dennis Whitby (149) and Jake Cairns (157).

AU next travels to Howard on Wed., Feb. 16 at 7:00 p.m. Old Dominion (3-4, 2-1) next hosts Delaware St., Howard and Maryland on Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.
