NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (February 16, 2000) - Junior Justin Haskins (Cliffwood  Beach, NJ/Matawan) and junior Tom Tanis (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp.) posted  back-to-back wins at 174 and 184 to lead Rutgers to a 31-12 come-from-behind  win over Princeton in dual wrestling action tonight at the College Avenue  Gym. Princeton jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two matches, but the Scarlet  Knights fought back to win seven of the last eight matches en route to the  win. With the victory, their fourth in a row, Rutgers improves to 6-3 on the  season while Princeton falls to 2-9.

Starting at 141, Princeton's Joe Clarke and Jeff Bernd scored back-to-back  wins, including a surprising pin at 149 over Rutgers senior Jon Forster  (Minotola, NJ/Buena Regional), to take a quick 9-0 lead. After junior Shane  Engle-Folks (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) picked up RU's first win with a pin  at 157, the Scarlet Knights fell behind 13-6 after four matches. Haskins  then picked up a 10-4 triumph to close the gap to 13-9 and Princeton was  assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty at the conclusion of the match,  losing one team point. That opened the door for Tanis, who picked up a 13-2  major decision over Anthony DeBartolo at 184, giving Rutgers a 13-12 lead.  Freshman Craig Buckley (Hingham, MA/Hingham) then scored a 3-1 win at 197 and  sophomore Frank Sabatino (Hazlet, NJ/St. John Vianney) emerged with a 10-1  major decision to extend the lead to 20-12.

Rutgers then closed out the match in impressive form, as freshman Ryan  Brennan (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) took an 18-3 technical fall win at 125 and  freshman Mike Sandberg (Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) closed out the match with a  pin in 1:12.

The Scarlet Knights return to action on Saturday, February 19, when they host Millersville at 7:00 p.m. at the College Avenue Gymnasium.
