WrestlingReport’s
Pennsylvania Collegiate Wrestler for the 2007 Season

KEITH GAVIN - PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGIATE WRESTLER OF THE YEAR

At the conclusion of each college wrestling season, WrestlingReport.com selects its Pennsylvania Collegiate Wrestler of the Year.  This annual recognition goes to a wrestler who is both a Pennsylvania native and competed for a Pennsylvania college or university.

WrestlingReport, under the direction of Bruce Closson, on March 25, at the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic held in Pittsburgh, announced that the Pennsylvania Collegiate Wrestler of the Year for the 2007 season is Keith Gavin, a junior from Factoryville, who competed this season at 174 pounds for the University of Pittsburgh.  Mr. Gavin was recognized at the Classic, prior to the start of the dual meet between high-school all stars representing the USA and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Gavin wrestled very well the whole year, then had two late-season tournament highlights - winning the 2007 Eastern Wrestling League title and placing second at the Division I NCAA Tournament held mid March in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  Coached by Rande Stottlemyer, Gavin completed the 2007 season with an outstanding won/lost record of 28-4.

Congratulations to Keith Gavin, WrestlingReport.com's Pennsylvania Collegiate Wrestler of the Year for 2007.  Past winners of this WR.com recognition were:  Edinboro University's Josh Koscheck for the 2001 wrestling season; Lehigh University team mates Rob Rohn and Jon Trenge (tie vote) for 2002; Lehigh University's Troy Letters for both 2003 and 2004; Pitt-Johnstown's Thad Benton for 2005; and Phil Davis of Penn State last season.
